Got to locate yet another long beard feathered butterball again. Bird gobbled at 6:25 and was doing the 2-step with 15 hens by 6:45. I'm not sure if he got bogged down a time or two while strutting but he definitely added a few sink holes in the woods. Got several birds located just gotta get my youngens on em when the season opens ;)

You have many mature birds?

We have a decent about of young birds and about 30 hens but just a few big toms.

It was last year when I saw 5 Jakes together during the season, it has been at least 16 years since I have seen any young birds. Everything that shows himself on the WMAs that I hunt generally are 3 year olds and up. Can't explain that since I get to see groups of birds that hatched and made it generally seem to be a large population of hens now. Go figure!

I almost went hunting on the 15th. Why did they change it?

To allow a few more hens to get bred and hopefully start getting the population a little higher. Bag limit has been reduced as well, again probably for the same reason.

I'm heading to the woods in the morning with my little runt. Doubt hes gonna be able to hold still long enough but it should be a great morning. Good luck everyone.

good luck! I wish I knew someone with private land to hunt on, it will be my first time turkey hunting and waiting until April 1st is difficult, especially seeing or hearing reports of success.

Plenty of time so no rush for me. Might try them this weekend idk. And no I wouldn't call myself a turkey hunter quite yet. Only been twice ever but I did get 2 big Tom's.
