Pre-dawn till 830. Water clear to about 3 ft. Super spook jr and trout trick. Caught 7 trout between about 12 and 16 inches. Spook worked best with the pop-pop-pause retrieve. Several noncommittal blow ups. Fun morning all in all. Fish swam away. Folly river area.

What kind of areas do you target for this early morning topwater bite? Tide was last half of outgoing, no?

Tide was about dead low at the time I was out there, but two weeks before I hit the last hour of the outgoing in the AM and it was nice also. I have found that any areas that normally hold trout are good places to try. Some mornings they won't hit TW, and I just keep changing up till I find out what they like. Once I know for sure that they are there, I'll go back to TW. I generally keep one rod rigged up with the Spook just in case.
