G8rnsc & I had us a very large time with the redfish today on the outgoing tide. We started the day at daylight catching several fish on mud minnows as the tide started to ebb. Because of the 7+ tide on the full moon, plus a -.4 tide at low prediction, the water really hauled going out and became really muddy. After finding several drops too muddy to fish, we settled in near low tide in some shallow water where we'd seen some fish working other days. After catching a few on Gulp! jerkbaits, I tied on a gold spoon. My first redfish ever to come on a gold spoon turned out to be my personal best, 33 inches. With that and another on the spoon a couple of casts later, g8rnsc tied a spoon on and we probably caught around 15 fishing down to low, then on the incoming. At one point we had a double of 24-26 inch fish on the spoons. It was, to say the least, a fun day, with our smallest fish on the spoons being 24 inches, one 33", one 31" and several in the 26-28 inch range! The water everywhere looks like dark tannic stained swamp water, and the fish come out a deep bronze, as you can see below.

Mickey: No, he ain't just another fighter! This guy is a wrecking machine! And he's hungry! Hell, you ain't been hungry since you won that belt.

Rocky Balboa: What are you talkin' about? I had ten title defenses.

Mickey: That was easy.

Rocky Balboa: What you mean, "easy"?

Mickey: They was hand-picked!

Rocky Balboa: Setups?

Mickey: Nah, they wasn't setups. They was good fighters, but they wasn't killers like this guy. He'll knock you to tomorrow, Rock!
