hey guys how are you all doing..i got two quick questions... 1. when i start the motor up it runs and soon as i put it in forward it cuts off..why that... 2. also my 35hp evinrude is a pull start?is it a certain kinda pull you have to get it to crank..i dont know if im pulling it to hard or not... any advice would be helpful...
Good fuel? No trash in fuel and fuel is either fresh or was stored properly with stabilizer. Good fuel line/primer bulb (no cracks or dry rotting)? Does the bulb stay hard after switching into gear? Can you squeeze the ball and keep it running after shifting into gear? If so it could be the fuel pump. They will go bad eventually even with no ethanol. How do the plugs look? Gunky black, ashe white, or just right (in the middle)? After letting it run for a while can you put your hand on the head without getting burned? This is how you can tell if it is overheating due to stuck thermostat or water cooling issues. If all these things check out I'd be looking toward the carbs, although it could be something else too!
Bad fuel lines and primer bulbs can cause all kinds of wierd symptoms. If you or a friend has another fuel line, try that one.
I gave up on trying to find non-ethanol fuel. I just boat in too many places to to be able to do it & always heard it is even worse to mix ethanol gas with non-ethanol gas. Now I just use marine Stabil & seafoam.
