Seafood On The Town
Growing up here in the lowcounty, seafood was a staple
food source around the Pickett household. Summertime meals often
consisted of fresh corn on the cob, and popcorn creek shrimp or
spotail bass, fall was potatoes and fresh blue crabs or stuffed
flounder, winter was oysters and sheepshead gumbo or fried trout and
grits, spring was sweet potatoes and dolphin on the grill. Man I am
getting hungry just thinking about mom and dads scrumptious fresh
seafood meals.

Purchase Next Season's Hunting, Fishing Licenses In Advance
Now At
www.sc.gov
The S.C. Department of Natural Resources and the
state's official Web site
www.SC.gov
remind hunters and anglers that it is time to renew annual
hunting and fishing licenses.
All current hunting and fishing licenses will expire on
June 30, and a new license is required starting July 1,
2007. Now, thanks to enhancements made to the S.C.
Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recreational licensing
system, obtaining next season's South Carolina hunting and
fishing license, in advance, is more convenient than ever
before. The user-friendly licensing system now allows
customers to purchase advance licenses for the 2008 fiscal
year (July 1, 2007-June 30, 2008) directly through the
state's official Web site, www.SC.gov.
Advance license purchases for 2008 will be mailed by the DNR
beginning June 11, 2007.
In addition to the DNR's current licensing privileges,
special hunting and fishing packages are now available for
purchase, such as the South Carolina Wildlife Sportsman
Package, the Angler's Sportsman Package and many more. Other
features include the ability for customers who have lost or
had their license stolen to order a duplicate license for
$3. Also, customers may now opt to receive an e-mail
confirmation of their purchases.
"DNR wants to make renewing your annual hunting and
fishing license as easy and convenient as possible," said
John Frampton, DNR director. "These improvements to our
on-line recreational licensing system add another level of
ease and convenience to the renewal process.
We are committed to providing convenient, user-friendly
services to the public. Support wildlife conservation in
South Carolina and purchase your new hunting and fishing
license in advance. Now, renewing your hunting and fishing
license has never been easier."
Purchasing a license through the online system is easy,
quick and secure. Users only need to complete a short online
form, select their license privileges, and pay with a Visa,
MasterCard, or Discover debit or credit card.
The South Carolina Recreational Licensing System was
built at no cost to taxpayers through a partnership between
DNR and South Carolina Interactive, a Columbia-based
subsidiary of eGovernment firm NIC.

Tailing
tides! Inshore action has been good this week for reds in
the grass. Fish are hitting Berkeley Crabs and Johnson
Spoons. Trout and flounder action has been good as well. The
trout are hitting DOA shrimp, topwater baits, and mud
minnows. Flounder are hitting grubs and mud minnows bumping
them along the bottom. Sheepshead action remains good in and
around Charleston Harbor as well as on the nearshore reefs.
The menhaden are showing up in the inlets and the Spanish
are following just off the beaches.
Offshore action is turning on big time. A few reports
of billfish at Edisto Tournament some big Wahoo, huge
schools of Dolphin and scattered Yellowfin. Bottom fishing
remains good for large black sea bass, snapper and grouper.
Tight
lines…
