Marine Speakers

Would anybody recommend a decent 6" dual cone marine speaker set brand and place of purchase. I am trying to add some additional speakers to my boat and don’t want to spend my kids college fund. The speakers will get wet with a little salt water. Thanks!!

on my last boat I got a set from cabelas 200 bucks with a cd player - I put the cd player in a enclosed case - but forget about buying nice speakers for the boat the salt kills them- just buy 99 dollar pair and pray they last 4 years.

Funny you should ask, I was in n. Myrtle this weekend and stopped by bass pro and bought some new Marine speaker(Marine is the company) for eighty bucks you get 2 6inch speakers that sound great, full wiring kit, and the system comes with it too. I thought it was neat because the system allows for aux input, USB input, and SD card input for you to store your music on instead of just a cd. Installed it this weekend and I love it. I would say this is about what your looking for

JBL 6 1/2" speakers off ebay. awesome price, awesome sound. and they are MARINE GRADE. dont waste your money on one of those BS package deals. they suck. i have 4 on mine w a Fusion ipod reciever and the JBL marine 4 channel amp and they rock no matter what conditions are. wide open w a 2 stroke they loud enough to enjoy.

O and also, just rinse the speakers with low pressure and you’ll be very satisfied for a long time. and. . . . when u are storing the boat, keep the speakers covered (or the whole boat) becuase the UV rays are going to break down the Rubber Surround of the speaker.

This is a QUALITY vs. QUANITITY issue. do you want to end up spending less on crappy speakers more often (which will add up), or spend more on better speakers once or twice. i vote for the latter . . .

ft worry.

been really impressed with my MB QUART speakers. I got them thru the factory after being sold knock-offs online but thats another story…

Just got some new Fusion 6.5’s. I’ll let you know how they work out.

Being superstitious is bad luck.

Check out Amazon.com. Polk Audio Marine speakers for around $50. Put a pair in the jon boat and in my FJ40. They do just fine.

My Fusions ROCK! Don’t know if they’ll last 5 minutes or 5 years because they’re new but they sure sound good. If you’re a “rocker” like me, then you’ll do good to get off a little money for your tunes.

my sony’s didn’t last long at all. I think since the old beater engine on my seacraft is so loud I blew them quickly.

I think I am going to buy west marine brand and get the warranty, that way I can get replacements when needed.

I have to second the Fusions, I have had them for two years with no problems at all and they sound GREAT!!!
