beer deal

Was at Trader Joes in Mt. P last week and saw a $2.99 deal for a six pack. The beer is called Name Tag. I thought “Hey, I haven’t stolen drank one of my Dad’s Falstaffs since I was in the fifth grade”. And since he is not around anymore(may the old soldier rest in peace, he EARNED it) I decided to buy a six pack.

Turns out, the Name Tag beer is pretty good. It is no Corona or Hineykin but it is better that Falstaff, PBR and the others.

No doubt that’s cheap.

I still haven’t hit Trader Joe’s yet…might have to bring a flatbed for my beer when I do…

They now have a Simpler Times Lager (6.2% ABV) and a Simpler Times Pilsner (5.5% ABV) that I don’t remember seeing before. I think they were a buck or two more per six pack than the Name Tag Lager. Maybe that means they’re better? I don’t know. I wasn’t impressed with the Name Tag. Not much cheaper than PBR and tasted about the same.

They did have a selection of TJ’s branded bottled beers - I recall a dark Mexican lager among others. Not sure how they rate, but they were in the $6 / 6 pack range.

Their Mission Street IPA is made by Firestone Walker and is pretty (**() good at $6 / 6 pack
They have a Vintage Ale that comes out every year around the holidays. It has been a Belgian Strong Dark Ale for the last couple of years made by Unibroque Brewery. Solid, and it will get you ripped at 10% abv.
Their Stockyard Oatmeal Stout is also a good beer for the price.
