I made mine from one of those decorative flag poles, I just sharpened the end and then wrapped electrical tape on the ball and seven inches down only about five feet long but for anything deeper I use my anchor.

I made my first one out of pvc, but when I got the new yak I bought a 7’ Stick-It Pin instead of making another one.

I use a Stick it 51/2ft got it from Haddrells Point MT Pleasant

Works great with a anchor trolley I just put it in one of my rod holders or you can buy clips for the side of your kayak

I took a piece of copper grounding rod, sharpened one end (not too sharp) and epoxied it into a piece of PVC, leaving about 12" of it sticking out. I made a T handle at the other end to the anchor line won’t slip off. I have 3 different lengths, 5’, 6’ and 8’ and have used them with my yak and my 18’ flats boat. So far they work great.

thanks I think I have my plan now, I picked up all of the stuff i need for my anchor trolley, and have most of the stuff for my stake out pole, I’ll try the pvc route first. Now if it will stop raining.

Stick It … way to go worth every penny, and I use it for my 17 ft flats boat too

I have Yakattack’s Park-n-Pole very light super strong has a replaceable tip, has a hand/foot to double as a shallow water push pole, a hole to tie to, and a notch that you can use to grab stuff with. I highly recommend it!!! Their website is Yakattack.us

Well I dug around at work, thru my junk and got most of what i needed, went to the marine hardware store got some 1/8 Dacron a couple of small pulley’s, and got busy. Had to pick up 2 pvc end caps for the stake out pole.

My anchor trolley is now ready to be installed, and my stake out pole I will name “frankenstein” it’s not pretty but it will work. I may have 30 dollars in the whole project.

I used two ski poles. I removed the bottom piece of rubber an sharpened the ends and they look awesome.

Good tip on your trolley if not to late is to have both ends of your line run thru the brass ring. Ex - if you look at an anchor trolley it has a top line and a bottom line that is tied to the brass ring, have the top line go thru the brass ring as well and it keeps the trolley from being pulled under the yak.

Thanks for the tip, but that was already the plan.

Sorry to bring this back up to the top but you HAVE to check out these stake out poles at http://palmettokayakfishing.com/fiberglasssop.html. He will also make a 6’ pole for you for $10 more. I have a couple of the 6’ poles and love them AND they are a third the price as most comparable poles! Will spend more and take a lot of time making one yourself. That and this guy is awesome to deal with. Best of luck!

Manta Ray 14’

Link didn’t work. You think that’d work tor a 14’ Jon? I really don’t wanna put out 80$ for that when I could get a fish finder

You have to take the last period out of the link…
