I had a couple of hours to fish on Saturday, but no bait.
So I fished with gulp shrimp without much confidence because ive not really caught fish on artificials at this spot.
Anyway had a few nice trout, including this one that was 25". Put up a great fight, in fact i thought it was a nice red for a while. he went back to fight another day and hopefully spawn a lot more!
Caught them all on outgoing tide, quite low, toomers creek

I would’ve had a hard time not sauting his big behind with some asparagus and baby new potatoes! Very nice fish!
That’s why they call it fishing, not catching…
Now we are getting there, nice fish

Thanks everyone. For me, and me alone, i will remember the sight of him swimming of strongly longer than i would remember how tasty he might have been.
After saying that the best fish i ever tasted was a lowly mackerel i caught in scotland. 5 minutes after it was swimming it was in a frying pan. Fresh fish in the fresh air, with a wee dramm if i remember correctly, perfect!
cheers
nice trout!
thanks for letting it keep swimming and making babies.

If that’s all I have to worry about…there’s nothing to worry about.
Great fish and even greater that you released her, the trout are doing their part to make a come back and hopefully more people will follow your lead and give em a hand.
You can’t catch fish on a dry line
