thinking about ways to make a wooden flag pole with a crossarm, like a wooden mast on a old time sailing ship, would love to find a wrecked boat and get one
want to hang nautical flags from the arms and American flag at the top, installed at my dock, 25-35 feet tall
You want a flagpole with yardarms. With that kind of height, it sounds like you’d need a telephone pole. Figure out at what height you want the yardarm, drill through the yardarm and the support post and attach with large galvanized carriage bolts. Some type of u-bolt would be good but not sure where you would find one that big. I am sure some of our CF experts will be along shortly to help out. Sounds like a neat idea, good luck.
DF; Your right on the telephone pole. Something that tall will need to be anchored in the mud and not just on top of the deck either. The yard arm will give Gulls a place to sit and crap all over the deck.[:0]
looked at the commercially available products and don’t have that kind of money, want to build something for fun
thought about the utility pole but want one fairly slim, need to see what is available, they are in the $300 range
thought about a couple 6x6’s lapped and bolted then taper them down,
I’ve got the tools and can do the work
didn’t think about the bird crap issue, that’s a problem, this is on Lake Murray, have a hard rock bottom to stand the pole and a way to attach it to the dock
Don’t know how high you want the pole but you can get just the top peice of the light/phone poll and use that. There is a plant out here in Walterboro that does the poles for the light company. They are located at the corner of Sydneis Rd and Hwy 17-A right across the street from the Forks PitStop gas station.
… Jason at Carolina Flag and Banner in Charleston was a great help.
</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>Cool. I know what the American flag says but, what do the other ‘nautical’ flags say? I can only read about two (or maybe one) of them.
Bluesky, where is that? Looks like upper end of the lake?
