First Sheepshead With Pictures

Decided to take my girlfriend on a fishing date on Saturday and once again she outfished me  She caught a 4ft bonnethead shark and a stingray…slow day.

Sunday I went by myself and finally caught my first sheepshead! Caught on a 1/0 mosquito hook with a fiddler crab. Finally did it and it only took 3 days haha. Noticed that he had a huge gash on his face. Does anyone know what this is? Maybe oysters?

In-breeding. Go to Columbia on the 28th of this month around 5pm and you’ll see plenty of the same in the parking lot at the fairgrounds.:imp:

Seriously, though, it looks like an older injury. It doesn’t look like it effected it’s appetite, though.

I can explain it to you, but I can’t understand it for you!

I’ve gigged a few and they were just short of 14". Good to see they make it.

Congrats on your first sheep! Pretty cool accomplishment, especially when you’re targeting them. Nice pics as well.

I like Tiggerfan so I won’t say what I am thinking. Weird fish, still waiting to catch my first sheep.

Getting their hats handed to them 4 years in a row has certainly brought out the kitties’ true character

I’m still waiting on my first sheepshead…thought I finally had one last week but turned out to be a BSB.

Looks like a cleft palate.

Agreed! Very likely from a gig.

That looks like something you’d see in Pickens County. Frightning.

If two wrongs don’t make a right, try three.

There was blood coming from the wound when I caught it…looked very fresh to me.

could have happened in the hook up? hit the structure? those barnacles are nasty!!

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Wait till the Dawgs turn Death Valley into a real slaughterhouse!

That’s right. Uncarolina comes to town. Same thing will happen again on November 30 when more inbreds will come to town.

I don't think the UNC fans appreciate your comment. It's not their fault your basketball team hasn't won a basketball game at Chapel Hill in the last 50 years.
