trout in winter

I have fished out of Edisto for years, but never during the winter time. From the reports it is clear the fish are deeper and need to be fished slower, but it also sounds like the catches are further inshore. My usual spots are near the sound. Do you think I need to look further upriver or do the fish hold in the same areas year round. Thank you in advance for your comments.

I would look further upriver for deep holes with live bottom. (shhhh)

Thanks. That will save me a lot of money on fuel. Love the trout tricks btw.

You can catch Trout in the winter[:0]

Doesn’t matter the time of year…I cant catch trout at all! Haha

I cna’t figure out the trout. Me and my son fished most of the day Saturday. We got skunked. Not even a bite. We used electric chicken on 1/4 ounce jig head and cast to loads of docks riprap, and oyster beds. I tried DOA on cork around oyster beds. I don’t get it. I have seen deep holes when moving around, but mostly at the intersection of creeks. How do you fish them? Help please.

you can catch them all year around just caught some the the other nite in fact on platics

Fish slow using an 1/8 oz jig head

MirrOlure fished super slow. I always look for areas that have a drop-off or pot hole. I move on if nothing in 15-20 min. Depending on where I am if it’s been rain free I go further up in the creeks if it rained in the past few days I head toward the ocean. Outside bend in a creek that’s deeper then the rest of the creek and has good bottom is a good start
