Beautiful day on the water yesterday. We left the dock at 3:30, and started high speed trolling at daybreak while we searched for a nice rip, weed line, or temperature break. Never did find anything too spectacular, but finally found a loose line of weeds and deployed the normal spread. After a long day of cruising, we finally put 2 small mahis in the boat. Made several passes back over the spot, but never found them again.
A little after noon, we were in 1500 feet of water, so we decided to head back in to shallower water. We never did see any other signs of life, so we broke out the bottom fishing gear to load up the fishbox.
We brought in fish after fish, and had a couple battles with a 6 foot reef shark that put the Shimano TLD15s to test.
When we had enough fish to feed everybody, we pulled in the lines to prepare for the 3 hrs trip home. As we started to leave, we spotted a couple really nice weed lines that we had to check out.
We deployed the spread one more time and made a couple passes but saw no signs of table fare, so we packed up and headed home. Had a great time with the work crew out on the water.
