Big block marine engine.. What's it worth??

I am an outboard guy so I need a little help here… I have an old boat that I inherited that the restoration process had just begun on. All that had been done so far is the engine, so it is really the only thing of any significant value. The old boat is in working condition, however. The engine is a 454 chevy big block that was completely rebuilt by MER Performance Marine in Little River. The block was bored and decked. The rotating assembly was balanced. All of the internal parts are new and include roller cam and lifters, Crane Gold rockers, new pistons, timing set, push rods, valves, etc. This is a naturally aspirated high performance engine that was dyno’d at 463 hp and 535 ft-lbs of torque. It is complete with exhaust manifolds, high rise aluminum intake, aluminum valve covers, Holley 850 carb, water cooled oil cooler, remote oil filter, etc. and ready to run. It has less than 50 hours on it. What is this power plant worth??? Let me know if any questions and I appreciate any knowledgeable ■■■■■■■■.

That’s no fishing boat engine! Might try talking to race boat guys!

Not to be a total smart ass, but it’s worth as much as you can get for it! When you get into performance motors you never get back out what you put in.

I’d check ebay and craigs list to see price ranges on similar motors. Might even be worth checking around Texas, a lot of lake boats running 454’s out there.

You can also go to Summit or Jegs and price long blocks and maybe get an idea?

You guys are exactly right… I was just hoping for a starting point. I will probably sign up on a power boat forum and do some checking around. I inherited it and I need to get it gone. No place for it on my dock!! Haha.
