Stocking Up On Ammo And Mags

With the likely election of Hillary 3 months away, and the super liberal majority on the Supreme Court coming in her first term which will likely strip away at the 2A if not repeal it, seems like now would be the time to stockpile ammo and hi cap. magazines before the panic buying begins and/or they are banned. How much do yall think is a reasonable amount to keep, for example 1000 rounds of 223 total and 5 30 round mags per gun (AR’s AK’s)? Looking for opinions or how much people on here have/will buy.

I’m buying powder and primers. I’d rather have the ability to make 1000’s of rounds when I need them rather than sit on 1000’s of loaded rounds. Plus you can adjust and build different calibers as your needs change. Don’t have much use for 1000’s of standard FMJ, or round nose pistol. But will need various target rounds, hunting rounds, self defense, etc. Plus powder and primers are cheap compared to plunking down money on loaded ammo. Those two things will be absent from shelves way before loaded ammo disappears.

Cases of .22 would be on my shortlist though.

Nothing reasonable could happen with ammo except increasing prices, or just general availability from panick buying. Potentially they could pass a law that says, “Can’t purchase more than X rounds at one time”, but as we know, that’s futile and more of a hindrance. Anything else would not be enforceable. Because of panick buying, I typically buy 22LR any time it’s a reasonable price. I don’t think it would be odd to have > 10,000 rnds laying around. Just be sure you can keep it dry and whatever is in your budget. It’s also heavy…

That being said, magazines is what you want to shoot for… Magpul 30 rnds, Ruger BX-25’s, Glock high cap (9mm, .40 cal)… Those were all super tough to get during the last run… I’ve purchased dozens of magazines from www.glockmeister.com as they have pretty good prices. Also, note that you CAN shoot the high cap glock magazines in pistols that are more compact. For example, you can absolutely put a G17 17 rnd mag in the subcompact and it just hangs out the bottom. In my mind, there is no reason to by 10 rnd mags. They will always be available.

Also, consider picking up some actual rifles themselves… Wouldn’t hurt to have a handful of Ruger 10/22 “TakeDowns” laying around. They are black, scary, and come with a cool backpack. It was one of the hardest rifles in the USA to get after the batman shooter. Also, they are cheap…

So if supply is going to get dried up from panic buying, why wouldn’t you want to stock up on things you will need. When Obama was elected, powder flew off the shelves and didn’t return for 6 years. It’s still pretty scarce even now. 4-8 years of Hillary, and it’ll be gone again.

I would say after Nov. 7 the date of the pres. election is when all hell will break lose. The Supreme Court passed the Heller and Chicago 2nd Amendment decisions on a 5-4 vote- 5 conservatives against 4 liberals, and the author of those decisions (Scalia) has died in office and the next Pres. will fill his seat. 2 other justices are in their 80’s (1 of the 5 conservatives and are waiting to retire) and another conservative in his late 70’s. This looks like a 6-3 liberal court from a 5-4 conservative one in the next 4 years, the next 8 years 6-3 or 7-2 liberal. If people dont think Heller will be revisited thats just naive as Ginsburg has already said the liberals are waiting on the 5 th member majority next year to gut the 2A.

Nothing warms the hearts of the NRA and gun manufacturers more than some wild rumors about the gubernment taking away everyone’s precious firearms…panic buying helps the economy too…helps the all the economic indicators look even better,…making it look even better for the Obama administration and the democratic party!! So, see…all your crazy panic makes the democrats look even better…ooops!!

Makes the Democrats look even better? All I know is there are over 350 million estimated privately owned firearms in the USA (not including the ones on the black market and in the hands of criminals) and approx 325 million people in the country. Yall liberals dream of a utopio where people will turn in their firearms or people will give them up by force of the government or the government will round them up. I’d say this is great for the gun owners as every year 25 million more guns have been added under Obama to that privately held number. I think Hillary can push it even higher, 25-40 million more a year. All I can say is have fun banning them and coming to get them. The only ones laughing at yall are us.

Depends on your budget I guess... Powder will come and go, but if they ever get a federal ban on "high capacity" magazines, then you can probably kiss them goodbye forever. Hopefully there will be some grandfather clausing in there... But, the can't ban powder under the Constitution.

They can tax the consumables to the point that they are not affordable. And then all ammo will go up. That was the reason for the last panic buy on powder and primers.

I have all the mags I want, even if they go away forever. You can reuse a magazine, so you only need so many. Can’t reuse powder and primers. If that supply dries up, or becomes out of reach to purchase, I’d like to know that I can put something in those mags.

I can buy a $130 jug of powder and load over 10,000 rounds of .45 ACP and .38SPL. Even more 9mm. Lead pistol bullets are always available cheap, or you can cast your own. Get 10 bricks of primers, and I have enough supplies to shoot 10,000 rounds. And they don’t take up much space either. So, for $400 I am good on pistol.

Do the same for my .223, .308, and 7.62x39 and for about $1000 total I can have all the ammo you can shake a stick at.

350 MILLION firearms…MILLIONS of bullets…all the ammo you can shake a stick at…

what are you all so afraid of…why? why? Why do you think it’s necessary to have all of this…

Are you all expecting the immigrant hordes to descend upon your homes, rape your women, pillage your belongings?

WHY?

Same reason you buy Dollar General brand feminine hygiene products. Because you can. It is still America last time I checked. This country has gotten way too full of people that think they can tell others what is best for them. What happened to the day when everyone would just minded their own business. Too much time on their hands.

that’s wonderful, go buy all you can, maybe get a loan from a bank and buy a conex box full…

WooooHoooo! Hell yeah Bo!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yqoO9pQk2o

Why would we need a loan to buy a Conex box full? We aren’t your typical entitled Libs you are used to hanging out with looking for a free dollar and food stamps. Cash and carry Bubba.
