Truck Reccomendations

Happy Friday everyone,

I’m possibly selling my 05 4Runner to a family member and looking for a full size truck. Not brand new but early 2010s models. I would love another Toyota but realistically I couldn’t afford the payments. But I’d consider it. My max payment is $20,000 and would be doing payments, I have great credit score for a 23 year old so payments shouldn’t be an issue.

I work on boats/yachts and carry my work gear with me so a truck is preferred
Would love everyone’s opinion!

Great truck if you only drive 10 miles a day.

I have a 03 tundra (4x4 v8) getting ready to go up for sale. 5k!if nothing else it could hold you over till you found something else. Let me know if you are interested.

Tundra. I’m driving an 06 that still drives/rides like new. No, not great gas mileage but, won’t leave you stranded on the side of the road either. You can pick up a gently used one within your budget. And, believe it or not, you can actually drive it MORE than 10 miles a day.

I found a few Tacomas around $17K-20K that I could swing. Found one Tundra as well so thanks for the help everyone! And also thanks for the offers above but I will have to pass on those

Tundras are great trucks as long as you carry lots of extra fuel and stay around the speed limit!!

The truck market is crazy…

I went Nissan Titan this time and won’t look back. Worry-free, gobs of power, decent MPG considering, all for a value compared to the competition. I got my '11 Pro-4X with new tires of my choosing with 45k miles for under $25k 3 years ago…

You can find a great one early 2010’s for under $20k.

For what it’s worth. I paid 20k for a 2000 Tacoma in '02. Sold it last fall for 2500. Now driving a 2016 tundra. F–King love it! Upgraded do to family expansion. As said before, gas mileage… I drive less than ten miles a day. Could not be happier with my decision.

I have a titan that has 300,000 miles on it and an armada with almost 200,000 on it. Great trucks!

I once stopped at Park’s Auto parts in west ash to pick up a stick of brake line to bend for my dad’s old car, and while I was checking out the older gentleman asked me about my truck. Asked if I liked it or ever had any trouble out of it. I assured him it was a great truck and never had an issue or expected one. He reassured me that it was, as they never ever sell any parts for them. They had been discussing trucks and all came to the consensus that they are the only full size truck that they never sell parts for.

You can get into a great Titan for $20k or less.

See how I drive roughly 60 miles a day for work at least, I’m looking for a smaller truck for better gas mileage. Toyota Tacoma has a 2.7L around 24mpg highway. Something around that. Also maybe a future family truck, what I’ve also considered. I’ve seriously put interest in a tundra, but would want better gas milage. Car shopping is a pain lol

In 2010, was looking around for a used Tacoma, but the prices were ridiculous. Like 17k plus for 80k miles. Bought a new one for 24plus. Great trucks. Have a 2015 now.

They are all peices of crap these days. They are only as good of a truck as you treat them. I have a chevy Colorado that I love it’s a good truck. I had an old dodge Dakota that was an absolute tank.

You are full of stool. The Tundra is one of the best trucks on the road. I fix my own and haven’t turned a wrench on my sons Tundra since he got it over 140K miles. You are a fool.

And you are an idiot with a quick trigger. I never mentioned a wrench. It was simply a joke about the fuel mileage. Go **** yourself.

I’ve got about 70,000 on my King Ranch, never had an issue. As to it being a piece of crap? I sure rides better than my 1992 with 200,000, much more power, many more creature comforts, and still has bumper to bumper warranty for 4 years or till I hit 120,000 miles. I’ve got several Chevy fleet trucks that get the crap beat out of them with a couple over 200,000 only issues are the notorious front wheel hubs. Got a couple of Toyo’s pushing 200,000 little work horses, and to throw Dodge in the mix got a 5500 that is a beast.

Since they all get treated with much hard work and some abuse i don’t understand your statement that “they” are all pieces of crap. ? I did look into a Colorado, but liked the room of the King Ranch with a full back seat. 18-20 on the highway and 15mpg around town. I’ll live with it. Much better than My 95 lightning that gets around 8-10 no matter how it is driven.

I’ve always been and probably always will be a “Ford” man, but I’m smart enough to know that all brands have their goods and bads and today the difference in all brands is negligible with today’s quality control and tougher buyers.

Edit:
Biggest thing buying used… Why did the original owner sell? I’m always leery of a used vehicle unless I know the last owner or it comes from a very Reputable Dealer that doesn’t want to tarnish its name. Car faxes are cool if the prior owner took it to a dealer for services. Biggest drawback to buying new is the huge lose taken just driving it off the lot and then the taxes.

Ups to new. It’s New! Ups to used. Save mone

Mdaddy, while I think you jumped the gun, I was a little harsh. I retract my suggestion you pleasure yourself. I could have edited but thats not me. Have a good day.

Ok let me rephrase what I meant. I’ve seen people with the same year same make truck buy them around the same time. One still running like new to this day. One has had a new motor and front end and trans put in. One dogs the hell out of his and the other drives it really easy. My 01 dodge Dakota outlasted my buddies 09 Tacoma.

They may be nicer and fancier now but they sure don’t make them like they used to. Atleast you could fix something if it broke back then.
