Wappoo Cut No Wake Zone Extension

Just a reminder to everyone take effect 4/15

I went through there a few weeks ago coming from Savannah to get some repairs done in one of the boat yards. That was one crazy stretch of inconsiderate boaters. I was surprised I didn’t see any DNR People just plowed through that area cut in front, behind just feet from my stern, and passing on both side. Good people watching opportunity if I wasn’t having to keep a close eye out on several vessels at a time. Most looked young and having a great time. Those docks took a beating. I will probally try to head south during the week

I went through this stretch yesterday. When I first hears about the extension I thought it was too long of a no wake zone. I generally don’t like new regulations.
When I passed through yesterday I looked at my watch and checked the time it took about 10 minutes. It doesn’t feel long. It is a pretty busy stretch of river there. The no wake zone is well marked at Coburg Creek and then also just before the James Island connector bridge.
Usually I stomp my feet at extra rules being made for boaters. I think this one is a good rule though and will make that area much safer and enjoyable for all of us.

No wake zone is up behind the IOP also.

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.

Just try an use plymouth ave boat ramp…

i guess someone’s boat will have to wash up on the ramp or someone will have to drown before a “No Wake Zone” is put up for us.

Seems like the enforcement boats needed to be on either end and one in the middle instead all in one place, I couldve written lots of tickets yesterday/

DNR boats were in and out all day on Saturday and wrote a large pile of warnings educating people on the new wake zone.

Glad to hear they are there at times. I saw DNR there Friday late afternoon. I did not see them on Saturday or Sunday when I went through. Both days had boats flying through the zone.It will probably take some time for all to learn of the change.
