Front Loader Recommendations

Gonna get new washer and dryer for the son and soon to be new bride.

Thanks All for any advice on what to stay away from.

Our Maytags have been great but have taught me one thing. I really prefer top load.

Everyone I know that has a front load wishes they had bought a top load. My sister had to have one over a year ago and hates hers. I find the simpler the better when it comes to washers and dryers. Top loaders don’t have near the issues front loaders do.

“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”, but really, who cares?

You might also want to consider the high efficiency top loaders. My wife wanted one a couple of years ago and it has been great. Uses less water and does a great job. Even on my fishing and work clothes.

Be advised, the Feds recently changed the water and power consumptions limitations on washing machines. We purchased a new top of the line top loader that was worse than worthless. The thing would weigh the cloths and only fill the drum to what it deemed to be enough water for the load. My wife dropped in a stack of new towels and after a full cycle, the towels were still DRY inside. I loaded the thing up and took it back to Lowes. The manager took it back in a heart beat and showed us a line of twenty or so new washers that had been returned for the same reasons. He suggested an unsophisticated plain jane Maytag with an agitator. We took it home and THOUGH it was going to work until we found out the Feds had also limited the temperature of your wash water. Yep, no more hot water for your sheets and towels! After a slow bunt while staring toward Washington, I reversed the hot and cold water hoses and the wife just selects cold rather than hot and gets real hot water for the items she wants to wash in hot.

I do NOT miss Obuma and his deranged EPA!

The EPA will be sending a Roger Stone team to your house on Monday. These regs are critical to national security, global warming, saving the illegal immigrants, and a whole host of other issues. It’s hard to believe one could be so selfish

I deal with the feds on a daily basis. It’s unbelievable how much money they waste and how it’s justified.

We got one of those new water/saver top of the line models, kept it 3 months and gave it away! It would not get the clothes clean! If it ain’t a Speed Queen leave it at the store!!! I now have white drawers again!

Saw a Whirlpool at Lowes on sale for 699, reg 999. After reading reviews, not going with that. Many unhappy folks with comments like those above.

Thanks for the advice and glad to have 5 weeks to decide.

Never heard of Speed Queen, will check that out.

Spoonmaster, what did yall get??

Yeah, neighbor has one of the top loaders with NO agitator. Says it sucks. Why the heck can’t the government leave something alone.

Ours must have been made before the new standards came out. It’s a Sears Kenmore and has done great for the past couple of years. We did the unthinkable and bought the extended warranty. Haven’t had to use it. We were told when we bought the washer to be sure to use high efficiency detergent. Maybe we got a good one?

Don’t buy one is my recommendation, they don’t last near as long as an old style top loader. We replaced ours front loaders with upper grade Maytags and they have been great.

The Maytag we bought did have an agitator, sales lady told us not to get one without the agitator because they don’t work well. It was about 5 years ago we bought the Maytag set.

I've had a Maytag FL for sometime I think it's model 4000 or something like that. The only trouble I've had is the gasket that seals the door shut getting cut/torn, but that is caused by folks not ensuring no clothing got pinched in the door bite. When that happens and a towel or the like goes spinning around something is going to give and it's the rubber gasket. That part is about $100 and 30 min or so worth of time to replace if you're remotely handy. If you have to call an appliance repairmen it's probably $300+. The only other issue I hear is people saying the "smell" but as long as you leave the door open a crack so they can air out I don't think that's a big issue. To be fair I'm limited to a FL because of building a folding counter over the W/D side by side but I don't miss the TL. my .02

You gonna talk or FISH!

Amazing what you can learn to do on Youtube by watching a few videos. I've replaced the drain pump motor in ours with the help of youtube

We have a set of 2007 LG front loaders, have been great, still going strong

Darnit; I opened the thread wanting to read up on Ford, Case, and John Deere.
