Boats in the Broad River.....

I crossed the SC 170 Bridge today over the Broad River and there was half a dozen boats fishing the hump…I’m guessing for cobia. Anybody heard any reports of cobia being back in the Broad?

Still closed, catching for fun I guess?

May 1 to May 31 in state waters south of 032° 31.0 N latitude (Jeremy Inlet, Edisto Island) In federal and all other state waters, closed when Annual Catch Limit (ACL) is met

I asked a friend about St Helena and they said it has not recovered yet.

That’s too bad. I guess they were just testing the waters to see if anything bit.

The spawning closure doesn’t start until May 1.

fished the Broad in my kayak last year and released several cobs. some there but not like days past. It is my understanding that you can keep until May 1 and then again June 1, its advised to always release though. Still 1 per person, 3 per boat. Will try maybe this week end. water needs to hit 70, in the high 60’s now. tides will be all wrong, but still may give it a shot.

Man I always thought with all those peeps crushing them at a squeeze point something would give. Needs to be CnR with no open season for awhile. They dont however need to close them along the beach where they seem to be doing fine…North around Georgetown and MI that is.
