Sweet 14’ homemade Jon Boat for deserving father/son/daughter

In 2012 , I built a wooden/fiberglass skiff with the GF14 plans from bateau.com.

I have since lived in the keys, Alaska and now the USVI and the boat has never even gotten wet. It has lived on a trailer under a tarp on Johns Island. Time for it to be used.

It was built with a 25 hp tiller motor in mind. The plans were for a long shaft but the transom could very easily be cut down 5 inches and sealed to accommodate a short shaft. It is bare graphite/epoxy mix on the outside so I was planning on primering and spraypainting it Camo but you don’t have to. The build thread is on here and the bateau.com forums. Cracker Larry gave me insight when I was building it as he built many bateau.com boats.

It needs a motor and the trailer needs some love. It could use new hubs, tires/wheels and would work great for a few hundred dollars in parts. Or just get a new trailer. Your choice.

The pictures are available as an album on my Facebook page under Chris Rapchick

I will only be in Charleston Oct 15-22.

I spent about $2k building it. I want to gift it to a deserving father/son/daughter who will put a motor on it and take care of it and send me pictures of fishing together. If anyone knows of anyone who would fit that bill, send them my way.

I’m interested. Can’t see the pics, but I’ve been looking for something to take my 6 year old grandson out in.

Hey Rap, I live on Johns Island and have been looking for a good starter boat for my son who recently graduated from CofC. He loves fishing and gathering oysters, so this could be a perfect creek boat. However I couldn’t see any pictures either. Love to check it out when you get back to town.

Sent another pm. I would love to start taking my kids out on the water.

That’s a mighty nice gesture Chris.
