Granny Nanny...

Daughter hunted yesterday morning and got a nice old Doe we have had on camera since July, she always traveled with 3 other Doe. They came by at 11:30 heading into bedding cover. She got a little of our scent due to the wind shifting a little, and was on high alert, so told my Daughter to shoot her if you want.

She double lunged her with the 44 Mag, and she went about 70 yards before going down. First time she ever made a morning hunt for Deer, first time she ever worked a blood trail on her own.

Forgot to pull the SD card before climbing up our trees, was planning to view it before sunrise. Probably would have waited on the nice 8 pointer that was moving during daylight this week of the full moon, but that Doe was going to blow so she had to go.

Daughter says she’ll get him next time.

Now that is a serious “poker” face! Nice job! 1500 on that buck, not only the full moon, but I’d guess he was out sniffing. I will say during the full moon, I saw more deer walking in the 0400 time frame than other full moons. I’ve been seeing some really nice bucks on camera over the last few weeks, also a lot of “late” fawns. Looks like your nanny was still in full “milk”. Good luck with your daughter getting that Buck! More Jerky for you!

Had a few different Bucks traveling through this spot from midday to 4 pm last week. They were definitely searching for Does. Can’t decide if these pics are of the same Buck or not, looks much heavier in the body and the antlers don’t appear the same. Her Doe was drying up, but still a little wet, she had two pretty good sized young.

Bottom pic, I had the camera set about head high to me. Deer were walking under the camera and giving me pics of only ears or antlers, had to lower it back down to knee level.

I’ve got an 8 pointer that gave me the slip on Tuesday afternoon (in too tall of brush) and then again Saturday morning (just a touch too early). I could see him with my binoculars, but not through the scope. Going again several times this week to try and seal the deal.

Great job on getting your little hunter out there! She’s going to be a force to be reckoned with!

Sail23 what you shooting? If you have some brush to worry with drop down to a 30.30 or my personal favorite .35. those things just push brush aside rather than being deflected by it. Best of luck!

30-06. He was at 220ish and could just see his head and rack poking around over the top of the brush. That’s too far for me to take a neck shot confidently. I’ll get him, don’t you worry!
