I have several. My all-time best was a girl backing down the ramp. Having a little bit of trouble but not too bad. Her husband/boyfriend was on the boat. Cussing and raising hell. Well he called her a stupid b*#":. He probably should not have done that. She stopped the truck. 2/3 the way down the ramp and got out. She started to walkaway.well I thought that was the end of the excitement. But oh no. He commenced screaming and cussing more. He called her a sorry the C word. Real big mistake. He really really should not have done that. She come back down and got in the truck. Put it in reverse. And dove out. And walked away. It took about 2 minutes for the truck to completely sank. To add insult to injury. North Myrtle Beach Police showed up about that time. They got him off the boat. stuffed & cuffed him. I think he was pretty drunk. Karma's a B*"@. Too bad that was before everybody had a camera in their hand. Don't have no idea where the girl went.I about wet my pants I was laughing so hard.

An offering of assistance probably would have alleviated the whole scenario. And maybe a new female friend!

That is amazing. Probably one of the few trucks underwater at the ramp that were intentional(insurance scams aside).

I've seen boats slide off trailers onto concrete, people loading jet skis into truckbeds, and bow eyes get pulled out on the hoist I used to run but the craziest was not so boat related. We were at the ramp and a guy was fishing off the dock. It was low low tide, maybe a foot negative. He saw something big just under the water and realized it was a car. There was a guy that went missing a month or so prior. It was in the paper, tv, all over the internet trying to find the guy. The guy who found him said the fishing was great there the last few weeks. Awful.

You bring up some good discussions Otc. I seen David P. Kung fu the hell out of Lonnie at cypress gardens boat landing years ago. Also there was the time bubba c. shot the marines radio and put him in the hospital when they wouldn’t turn it down.He couldn’t hear his dogs.haha That probably wouldn’t happen nowadays with cell phones.Bushy Park was like the Wild West back then.

Years ago, me and my buddy put the boat in at Leeds early one Saturday and noticed a single small car parked crooked in the very first two boat trailer spots. Didn't think much of it other than, 'oh look at this jerk just taking up a bunch of space for no reason.' After I parked my truck, I walked by his car on the way to the boat in the water, and it was a dead dude. Called the cops and they were there within a few minutes. Said he shot himself the night before and that that was a fairly common occurrence at boat ramps.

I no longer look in cars at boat ramps.

Some one kills them self like once a yr at bulow. Sol legre is popular place to park a car in the water too. I helped/was there when a dive team and some cops pulled a car full out of the landing south of wiltown. Definetly a mass homicide but it never made the news. Probably 8 yrs ago or so.

Random jetski floating around cypress launch.

Had to nudge it out of the way to get loaded.

Owner was on the phone in the parking lot. Must of been one hell of a phone call.

Guy gets into yelling match with a couple boats with bar lights and loud music.

Shirts lifted, protection presented, conversation dies down, lights turn off, music dies. All go about their business.

40inchreds, I always carry when I go to bulow. It's a sketchy boat ramp. Seen windows broken out of trucks back before they build all those houses around it.

Weekend at Leeds Ave Ramp. Busy like usual.
Watched a guy attempt to load his boat over and over again.

Just couldn't get it the way he wanted.

Several people offered help but he was bound and determined to get it.

After several near misses to the speed boat tied to the dock, he Eventually stepped back from the helm and let the other boat driver load it for him.
Tied the ramp up for 15-20 min.

I've seen a lot of drunk yahoo's at the landing doing crazy things, but unfortunately the craziest thing I've ever seen was pretty much my fault and here is the story

It was February 18th(my bday) about 15 years ago and my friend and I took his john boat to go catch some reds at our super secret hole in the Ashley. We had the best day fishing that I can remember to date. the landing was small and in our neighborhood way up the Ashley. the side had a drop off. it was high tide so I couldn't see the drop and while I was backing the trailer down, the tire fell off of the ramp and the axle was stuck. me and my friend were in and out of the truck trying to get this thing back up. Finally, I get out of the truck to help him pick up from the back of the trailer and it broke free. The problem was, I had left it in reverse. It basically knocked both of us out of the way and under water while the entire truck goes under! Looking back, we were lucky it didn't run us over and kill us. Even though I've always used the parking break when I get out, I didn't that ONE time because we were all flustered and lost my head. I couldn't believe I could do something so stupid as I've been boating my entire life and have always been a safe and level headed guy. It goes to show that $H!!T can happen really quick.
Funny part is, every time I see him to this day, that story comes up. especially around all of our friends. I will never hear the end of it, nor should I!!

Shem creek maybe 10yrs ago. Getting ready to go offshore bottom fishing one cold ass December morning. Buddy dropped the boat back and hopped in boat to pull it off trailer. I said I would ease him in from there. I’m sure some of y’all remember this. Well I eased him in then in his old stick shift Toyota I kept pounding the clutch rather than the brake in the dark in a vehicle I had never sat in the driver seat in. Well needless to say the truck kept rolling despite my frantic pounding of the clutch. About the time the truck get halfway submerged I am forced to swim out the open door. Thank god it was open. Water was freezing it was freezing out and I was immediate convulsing in pre hypothermic shock. The boat floated off perfectly but it took the better part of the day with a few boys from the dive shop and some float bags to get the vehicle and trailer up over the ledge at the bottom of the ramp. I still hear about it to this day every time I back someone’s truck up, and think about it myself. Rightfully so. There you go. There is all my shame out for the whole CF world. Just one totaled Toyota truck that I payed off the next 6nonths or so. Was lucky to get out of the truck when I did. Commence the laughter and crucifying

Just simply perfect. I typically go to Wappoo on any summer holiday evening with a well disguised beverage and some Old Bay potato chips. Tides and times matter more than fishing for tailing redfish. You know Wappoo can rip. Guy cuts the lineup of six boats waiting to trailer out. One of said waiting in line boats voices their displeasure. He gives them the finger and steps off onto the dock to get his truck. Without a line. Same, now dishonored, fingered boat gives it a slight defensive nudge as it comes toward them so as not to incur damage and we all watch as it bounces off the bridge support and moves on down the road to the rocks.
Good times watching karma in action.

The thing I see the most is discourtesy. Trailers cutting in line, boats making ready in the backing lanes, boats tied to the inside of the dock blocking the ramp while the owner gets the trailer, boats milling around in front of the ramp waiting for the trailer meanwhile blocking other boats trying to approach their trailer, people unloading at the top of the ramp.

A lot of people just not paying attention in general. Not really surprising when you see half the drivers on 526 with their heads buried in their cell phone.

They should teach a boat ramp etiquette class.

Anyway, enough of my soapbox...

Down in Edisto 10-15 years ago at the state park ramp a wife forgot to put her husbands truck in park or something and the whole rig went under. So far that another person a while later and not realizing was able to launch their boat!

This was back in the late 70's. I saw a family drive up in an old beat to crap station wagon with a trailered McKee craft trailered. It was Sat AM and busy at Wappoo landing. The wagon stopped in the middle of the lot and a kid got out, chocked the tires and took the boat off the ball. Dad drove the family wagon around and put the front of the vehicle to the front of the trailer , The kid put the receiver on the ball that was welded to the front bumper and climbed into the boat. Dad drove the wagon forward pushing the boat & trailer down the ramp He knew when to stop when the fan belt got wet and started squealing . With the trailer still attached to the front of the boat, he backed up and drove forward into a parking spot with the wet fan belt singing the whole way Then he raised the wagons hood , removed the battery and with the family in tow walked to the boat - they hooked up the battery, cranked up and took off - Dad Mom and 3 chubby kids doing at least 5 kts !

Been a while since I seen a trailer hitch on the front of a vehicle.haha And I remember taking the battery out of the truck to use on the boat motor a few times. Most vehicles would still run with the battery removed back then.
