Sunday 6/17

Beautiful seas sunday. Left cherry point later than usual. Headed out about 745. Fished some live bottom in 100ft. Some small bsb. Ran to Edisto offshore and caught some nice snapper. Free lined a live bait to have some fun before running home. Had your typical aj’s come up, 7ft bull shark, and then a nice cobia. Luckily cobia was most aggressive. He hit it 5 times before he finally hooked up. Landed our our 1st cobia ever. Lots of spades but no hookups. Any advice on these guys? Can’t seem to get a bite.

Get a speargun for the spades

Also if you have shrimp they will sometimes take that. Little hidden hooks in that shrimp work best for me. But they do love those jelly balls. I typically will try to net some menhaden before heading out and if we see some jelly balls net those up and take them along for the ride.

The spades have been plentiful this year on my trips!

Speargun is fail safe!

I agree with Jordan…We have our best luck with spearguns.
Always seem to “catch” the biggest ones too.
