Charleston's new "rental property permit" - WtF?

Ok … just got a nasty-gram from CHS saying I need to permit my property to rent it. How much is it to do that? Anybody else have to do this? If it’s not my primary residence I cannot use it for short term rental? How is that even fair or legal? WtF?

If you’re collecting rent, CHS wants some too. You can’t even advertise your rental, without obtaining a permit.

Not really new. I’ve been paying a business license fee on my rental since 1985. You also need to claim that income on your state and federal taxes so they can get their share.

Come on, you know the government has to get their fair share.

"Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It's Hand", but really, who cares?

I’ve had to have a land lord permit for years and they wont Issue one till they see your tax return!
