Quarantined Shad 3/24

Went to Arrowhead on the morning of 3/24, drizzly and wet. Water was almost at a standstill. Was a slow start, and was beginning to think once again we missed them, but then the dam alarm sounded and the water began to move a little. At that point, it was game on. That was, until the water levels rose several feet and the water was rushing. A few more were caught in the fast moving water but it definitely slowed the bite. Shad were all caught on chartreuse grubs, as the water picked up some split shot had to be added. Along with the shad came more stripers than I had encountered in the years before! 7-9 stripers ranging from 14-25" were caught on the grubs which on light combos was a great time.

Hope everyone stays safe during the time of quarantine. I can’t think of any better social distancing than being on the water…
