Land-based shark fishing

Where is the best place in the Charleston area to target large sharks from shore? Has anyone ever fished for sharks off Sullivan’s Island around the Grillage? Thanks in advance!

Any beach area that doesn’t have people around. Dusk and Dawn are best bite window, so like 4am to 8 am an 6pm to 12 am. Some people like inlets because of current and steeper drop offs to deeper water. Most of our inlets have some form of hang up, ledges, wrecks, hurricane debris, sandbars etc. The tide also flushes everything by so sometimes weeds are bad especially in spring and fall tides when the marshes turn over. I’ve fished Sullivan’s many of times and if your just trying to catch a shark it’s a good spot, a lot of 5ftrs in the grillage and lighthouse area. Be advised there can be major currents. Are you kayaking baits or casting? At the very least it’s a great place to watch a sunset and watch the ships cruise by.

I will be using a balloon rig to deploy my bait
