Visit to Xcelerator Boatworks

I went up to Charlotte Friday and met up with an old buddy of mine there to head up above the lake and meet Joel and Kaylan. Also met Gofshn (Brian) who was there hanging out as well.

Let me just say that it never ceases to amaze me how much this site and other forums do for you when you find people who have the same passions as you.

Joel and Kaylan showed me around even though they are extremely busy working basically only nights and weekends on their boats.

You know that people are hard workers and very skilled at what they do when you see them undertaking huge projects and seeing them through to success and completion. You never get the full grasp and appreciation for the dedication and effort people put in unless you try a little yourself and go see what they’ve got going on in person though.

Just WOW.

It is mind blowing to see Biffle’s 36 these guys basically built from scratch. Kaylan here (candid shot as we were talking) works with Joel in his SPARE TIME!

Did I mention Joel has has a 12mo old kid also?
But here he is taking an hour out of the night’s work I know he had planned out in his head - just to show me what’s being rigged how inside the 36.

This boat is being rigged and was designed with a pretty obvious mentality behind it. Pretty much the “what else can I fit into this boat?” mindset!

So imagine working your normal job, having a family, living a fair drive away from here, but still reading all the literature and manuals on how all this stuff works and installing it correctly and making a boat showing it all off like it’s a display piece.

mechanical/electrical room under the leaning post

remote operated, motorized batt switches and electrical management. touch screen lighting and electrical controls, etc. Unreal how much stuff is go

So, the boat is going to have triple 350’s on it? I’m surprised they aren’t trying out the new Seven Marine 557’s on that beast.

Awesome looking yacht.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I’ve been in amazement every time I pull up their post and see what else they’ve got done. I was pretty proud of myself when I rejuvenated an old jonboat a couple of years ago but that was sophomoric childs play compared to what these fine craftsmen have been showing!!!

I’m jealous that you got a tour also!!

Good for you visiting the boys Phin. The fellowship that this site offers to its members is priceless. Thanks for sharing your visit with us.
